Michael Perch has been with Road Map Consulting (RMC) since 2006. Mr. Perch brings to the firm over twenty five years of financial, sales and marketing and operations management.
During the early stages of his career in the early 1980’s, Mr. Perch worked as a Corporate Lending Officer with Bank of America, structuring and underwriting corporate loans to small businesses. Calling on companies in the middle market high technology sector of the local economy heightened his awareness of the unique challenges that are faced on a day to day basis by small businesses. Mr. Perch assisted scores of companies in obtaining short-term and long-term sources of financing – from start-up companies to mature well established firms.
In 1989, Mr. Perch launched Corporate Presentation Services, Inc. which specialized in designing, programming, building and maintaining high end visual communications systems primarily for Department of Defense clients. CPS designed and built systems that provided classified visual communication for some of our nation’s top defense and civilian agencies, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense, The State Department and The Executive Office of the President.
Most notably, two weeks after the events surrounding 9/11 in 2001, Mr. Perch project managed a team of engineers, programmers and technicians that designed and installed an Alternate Command Center for the Office of the Secretary of Defense at a classified location to act as a backup to the primary system located at the Pentagon. Due to the heightened alert that the country was under at that time, CPS’ ability to implement a complex, integrated visual communication system within a one week time frame gained praise and accolades from high levels throughout the Department of Defense community. Mr. Perch then grew CPS to over $12MM in revenue, with over 40 employees located in five offices and four states. In 2006, Mr. Perch successfully negotiated the sale of CPS to a local competitor and started RMC. Mr. Perch served as the President and 100% owner of CPS throughout its seventeen year history.
Serving the various needs of small businesses that are interested in federal government contracting is Mr. Perch’s mission in life. At RMC, Mr. Perch consults with small and large businesses in the area of federal government contracting, business development, proposal development, loan packaging and operations and financial management. In addition to his primary duties at RMC, he currently conducts monthly workshops and seminars through the Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE) at the Small Business Administration headquarters office in Washington, D.C. addressing such important topics as How to Acquire a GSA Schedule, How to gain entry into the SBA 8(a) program and Federal Government Business Development topics. Mr Perch has been a volunteer with SCORE since 2007.
Mr. Perch is a graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting. He has also taken Executive Management courses at Dartmouth College. Mr. Perch is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Expert version 3, and a Class A General Contractor in the state of Virginia. He serves on a number of local boards and is active in Christian ministry. Mr. Perch also hold a Top Secret Security clearance.
Mr. Perch resides in the Washington DC area, is married and the proud parents of four wonderful children.
